What have we learned from the GTA V Gameplay Trailer?

Rockstar finally released gameplay footage of GTA V today, much to the delight of fans around the world, but what could we actually learn from the video that we didn't already know?

Well for starters, the graphics look amazing, but that was already expected. The trailer shows off the diverse landscape of Los Santos, from the bustling city streets to the detailed beaches.

The 'vantage point' system brings up questions about the direction of the gameplay and how much it will actually need to be used. Knowing Rockstar, they wouldn't implement the feature without careful consideration and hopefully that'll translate gameplay-wise.

The style of the game as well as the menus look like classic GTA and the upgraded mini-map seen at 1:47 seems like it could be useful.

The world looks fun to explore and well-realised and the three characters seem very diverse. As long as they don't fall into stereotypes it looks like GTA V will have a very strong cast.

The ability to play golf looks like a great addition to the already large list of mini-games, (such as tennis and bike-riding) and hopefully there will be more shops and clothes to buy than in GTA 4.

The ocean floor is fully explorable and is large in scale. The player can scuba-dive as a means of exploration and it doesn't look like they have skimped on this aspect of the game.

GTA borrows from popular titles like Assassins Creed by added a hunting side mission to the game. Due to the size and scope of Los Santos this promises to be a good addition to the title and hopefully there will be a large variety of things to hunt.

The customisable heist missions look like they will add to the variety of missions in the game, as they could get a little stale after multiple titles stuck closely to the same formula.

The cover system looks similar to GTA 4, although it looks a little more fluid than the previous game which could be problematic at points, but was still reasonably good.

The ability to invest your ill-gotten gains in whatever you like gives the game an added customisable edge and the video finishes with a trailer for GTA 5 online, which is promised to be discussed properly soon.

All in all, most people would have learnt quite a bit from the trailer depending on how closely they've been following the sparse news released about the game. The massive list of mini-games look like fully fledged games in themselves and will surely add to the quality of the finished project.

Many sites have been cataloguing news about GTA V such as here and you could find most of the information already, but it was good to have an official release from Rockstar regarding one of the biggest titles of the year, if not the decade.
